GENERAL PERSONALITY

   Envy... is an interesting character. Her personality will change completely to whoever is around her to win a dog’s trust and friendship. She’s a people pleaser. You could call her fake. Completely and utterly fake. It’s not an overly pleasing attitude, but you will feel better about yourself when you are around her. She will gently rub your ego until it’s raw and open... that is until she doesn’t need you anymore. She’s not one to immediately burn bridges, but when she knows for a surety that she doesn’t need you and you can be silenced for eternity... well.

   Truely, her real personality is pushed aside for her one driven goal, and until she reaches that, she will be whoever she needs to be. If it weren’t for that one goal, Envy would be an honestly good dog. Deep down she is kind, soft, and patient. She would never be one to molly-coddle another for no reason, but she would be incredibly loyal and trustworthy. For now... she’s a liar. She’s a cheat.  She’ll win your heart, before she tears it laughingly from your bloody, beating chest. And she’s deathly good at hiding what she is.

GREATEST STRENGTH

   Determination. Envy will stop at nothing until she gets what she wants.  Even with every limb torn from her body she will wiggle her bleeding stump of a body trying to bite your ankles off. When she gets something in her mind that needs to get done- it WILL get done. 

GREATEST WEAKNESS

   Seizures. Because of the circumstances in the night she was born, Envy has seizures.  She refers to them as her messages from Skugga, but they can happen any time at any moment... and can hinder her greatly both emotionally and physically.

   Puppies/young dogs

OBVIOUS? WHY?

   Not obvious.  Puppies are Envy’s soft spot because of the other Sins and her mother. She inherited her mother’s love for puppies and from the reverence that she talked about them. As the oldest sister and the one to raise the others when their mother died, she is very protective of young dogs as well. Envy believes in their innocence and secretly yearns for pups herself.

HIDING SOFT SPOT

   Envy keeps it hidden by sheer determination and not paying any attention to puppies. She simply ignores pups and young dogs, by acting aloof or avoiding them all together. She knows if she gets involved with young, her motherly instincts of proctecting them will take over and they’ll cripple her in her goals.

GENERAL BACKGROUND

   Envy was raised in a lie. 

   Just as Lucy, her mother was. Born under a dog of incredible wrath and sinistry, Lucy was told over and over and over again, she would give birth to the dog that merged Zonje and Skugga. So drilled into her head was this mindset, that teachings became belief and belief became obsession. Lucy had not know that her parents were traitorous cowards from a rebelious religion against Zonje. They were the ones that worshiped the night. That worshiped the fallen. That worshiped Skugga. They were small, only a few believers and most were old adult males, except for the few young female pups that they cultivated. A cult of a cult, these believers continuously tried to revive the serpent Skugga and that is where Lucy fell victim to. The moment Lucy was elidgable to be bred, along with a few other young bitches, the young dog was mated with and bred to produce offspring that would hopefully house the spirit of Skugga. Each of the young femaless would deliver puppies over and over until their leaders believed they found the correct match for their deity. 

   For years puppies were born and killed from Lucy’s loins and for years, she did what she was told. For years, each of her comrades did the same thing. All pups were examined for the blue pup with a black mask that was the only indication the leaders had of the dog that could house Skugga. As time passed on, dog after dog died, until the cult dwindled, through disease, war, and starvation, to Lucy and one last male leader. Lucy, about 10 years old, had grown to fiercly cling to the knowledge that she would birth the pup that would bring their peace, and was pregnant one last time. Despite wanting the prophecy to appear, the bitch loathed the remaining male with all of her heart. He was the one that had brought her into the situation that she hated and loved at the same time.

   The two traveled while the dog was pregnant, and the night came for the pups to come. A dark faced female was the first to be born, and the male howled with happiness at her markings. They were perfect. She would be the one to bring back Skugga. As he began to pray and ritualize around the new-born pup, Lucy delivered 6 more. A perfect number. Seven.  Now that she had given the male what he wanted, she believed she could finally raise a small family and sighed contentedly as she was able to nurse living and beautiful pups for the first time. But the male thought differently. Finishing one last prayer to the whimpering dark pup, he turned to Lucy.

“Kill the others.” He ordered in his deep growl, picking the pup up to give back to her mother for nourishment. Lucy froze. Thoughts flashed through her mind... He couldn’t need to kill the others... he had what he wanted... they were innocent... he just couldn’t... he wouldn’t... he won’t. 

“No.” Lucy growled in response. The male stopped short, the tiny pup hanging sadly from his mouth.

“What did you say, girl?” He rumbled.

“I will not kill the others. You have your savior. Leave me my children.” Still letting the pups feed, she glared at the male, her tired body stretched out. Ever so slowly, the male dropped Skugga’s to-be body at his feet, and with lips curling, reached with a hard paw to knock the six other pups off of their mother’s teat. His foot would never reach them. A glowing hatred burst out of Lucy in a snarl and with a flash of fangs, the male’s foot was ripped clean off. 

   The fight between the two lasted for hours.  Lucy was indeed the victor, but at a cost. The right side of her face was completely in shreds, while a gash in her right hind leg would ultimately cost her the use of the limb. Trembling from exhaustion, the dog stood over her victory, dazed for the moment at what to do. Until a little whimper reverberated through the inner workings of her ear. Immediately, her motherly instincts took over and she snapped into action, realizing her new born pups had yet to get their bellies full, and the chosen one hadn’t even whetted her mouth. Carefully picking up the dark pup in her soft jaws, she placed her in the middle of her other Sins, carefuly cleaning each with a velvet tongue as they nursed in a growing puddle of their father’s blood.

   A year passed in bliss for the puppies and Lucy. She had named each pup after a deadly sin, in homage to her religion, which she incredibly still deeply believed in. She raised Envy, the first-born dark faced pup, with the knowledge that she would be the one to house Skugga inside of her and merge darkness and light. The pup barely had time to be a child, and quickly came to act older than she was. Envy grew up with a deep religious faith because of her mother, and truly believed herself to be the savior of dogs from Zonje. It didn’t help that on the night of her birth, Envy was only able to escape the clutches of death with a souvenir. Malnourishment and a bit of trama at her earliest hours caused brain damage and as such suffers from seizures frequently. But she revels in these seizures. When she has them, visions come to her that she believes are direct messages from Skugga herself. 

   The family of dogs was incredibly close, and through the direction of their mother became quick and efficient hunters as well as sneaky fighting opponents. Each Sin had their own strengths and they worked well as a team. The young pups quickly acclimated to the harsh environment around them and learned to survive on their own.

   By the time Envy was a year old, the Sin’s mother died. It was not a grand event... Lucy had simply succumbed to her age and wounds, mercifully falling asleep into death.  The pups burried their mother in a decent grave and continued to worship Skugga and pray that she would guide their mother to the underworld where she could torture those that had wronged her. 

   Envy had continued to train and expand her mind, and on her second birthday counciled with her brothers and sisters after she seized and visioned that now was the time for her to infiltrate The Following. She bid her brother’s and sister’s farewell, for she knew that this was to be done alone, and only Skugga would be her partner in uniting the light and the darkness. For now, she would join The Following, learn their ways, and get close to Zonje’s mate.
