Description

Okay, seriously I can't stop drawing Leotie. If anyone wants to be in my next challenge! Give me a holla!!

:iconwindsonde:

"... And that, my young gryphlets, is why we celebrate the Balodius festival." A happy purr and fluff of feathers could only come after the long sermon Thanh had just finished from Leotie's little body as she sat mesmerized by his words. To her, he knew the religion of Windsonde like no body else, and she could listen to him for hours. With her head in her paws, she watched him from the branch she was sitting on in the back of the crown when a flutter of wings landed next to her.

"You like him don't you, Little Leo?" A sneaky whisper rushed into her ear. Leotie turned rapidly as she looked at the tickle-in-her-ear culprit and found the lovely orange Woodwind sitting slyly next to her. Saliva immediately rolled in Leo's tongue and blushing as much as a Gryphon can, floofed her feathers and shook her head.
"N-no of course not." She mumbled softly as Thanh had started to chatter away happily on some other aspect of Balodius. "I... I just enjoy his views on our religion." She cleared her throat, trying to get rid of her embarrassment.
"That's too bad." Mumbled Woodwind. "If you did, I know him pretty well. We're friends you see, and he was looking for a medicinal fruit over on Tookie Island. I was going to let you know about it so you could be on his good side." The little ocelot crested hawk eagle shrugged as she looked at Leo. "Oh well. I better go find someone who will want to know." She finished, gliding off to some other group of gryphons she could cause mischief with.

--

"MOM I'M GOING TO GO PRAY SLASH MEDITATE IN THE WOOODS." Leotie screeched into her parents Aerie twenty minutes later when the crowd listening to Thanh dispersed. With a fluff of her newly developed and flyable wings, the young gryphon bolted out into the forest without listening to a word from her parents... if they were even there. Most likely they themselves were off in the woods meditating... which was what that naughty gryplet should have been doing. Instead, the soft paws of Leo snaked swiftly across the ground, carrying her as fast as her little feet could. And that was when she ran into a solid ball of feathers.
"UMPH." Came the groan from both of the gryphons as they landed on their keisters.
"Oowwwwww.... Whadya do that for?" The slightly older dark gryph moaned at her. His yellow eyes opened as she sat rubbing her head, peering at him as well.
"I'm sorry..." She mumbled sitting up and shaking herself free of grass and dirt. "I was just in a hurry and wasn't watching where I was going..."
"I'll say." He grinned softly, standing up and cocking his head to the side. "Why you in such a rush?" He asked politely.
"I'm going to Tookie Island to get a magical fruit!" She blurted , her eyes smiling with excitement. They stood there silent for a moment as the other gryphon computed what the girl said.

"... Want some company?" Rhys asked.

--

It was sunset by the time the two got to Tookie Island. It was a long hard flight and the two landed gratefully in the sand. The island was quiet as if everything had gone to sleep and the two looked at each other. "Well... it shouldn't be too hard to find!" Leotie cheerfully remarked as she began trotting towards the jungle.
"So what are we looking for? Describe this magical fruit to me!" Rhys asked, quickly falling in step with her.
"Uhmm... something magical?"
"Oh boy."

--

"Leotie, face it, we're lost!" Rhys chirped at the little gryplet as she pushed her way through the thick jungle vines. It was dark and strange noises were everywhere... both of them were quite honestly a  little scared. "We should go home!"
"But but... it's got to be here somewhere!" Leo pouted softly as she looked into the distance.
"Leo. Lets go." He insisted, giving her fluffy tail a small tug. The female gryph sagged slightly before looking back at her adventure companion and sighed.
"Just a little longer?" She pleaded, her eyes turning into massive saucers of innocence and longing. No one can resist those babies. Not even Rhys.
"Fine... but we're going to get in trouble..." he succumbed, as the girl jumped in delight and nuzzled her head softly against his chin and bounded once over the vines of where she was with a huge CRASH. "LEOTIE!" Rhys yelled as he saw her tumble over the curtain of vines and roll down a long and slippery slope. He dived after her, his tired wings carrying him as swiftly as he could to where she landed with a massive splash in a shallow pool of water.
"Leo! Are you alright?" He worried as he landed next to her in the liquid. Her face was silent as she stared past him, a strange orange glow coming from her eyes. "L-leo?" He asked as he slowly turned.  There in front of the two was a gargantuan tree with small glowing orbs dangling off of vines and sitting quietly within it's huge branches. The orbs pulsated softly as the two walked towards the old tree and onto a slab of stone in the middle of the water.
"Rhys... we found it..." Leo whispered, looking at the flickering fruit. They stood transfixed for a few more moments before Leotie dropped to her paws and began mumbling a prayer, thanking the gods for this beautiful tree and for Rhys, and for Thanh, and for the fruit, and for their safe journey, and asking if they wouldn't get in trouble.....
